A signature hat and a pair of shoes belonging to Michael Jackson sold for a recession-busting £22,800 – around double their estimate – at auction. Jackson’s hat and shoes were worn by the late singer for a TV special titled Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration and were estimated to fetch £10,000 to £12,000.
The pieces of rock and pop history were snapped up at the Bonhams Entertainment Sale in London. The auction house’s entertainment specialist, Stephanie Connell, said: ”Today’s sale shows that important and rare memorabilia continues to achieve strong prices.”
