Some of the biggest celebrities in the world gathered at the Jim Henson Studios in Los Angeles Monday to remake the best-selling single, “We Are the World” for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake.
The video premiere will take place during the Opening Ceremonies for the Vancouver Olympics November 12 on NBC (KARK Ch. 4 in Little Rock).
Quincy Jones was able to gather the brightest stars from Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, including the Jonas Brothers, Pink, Celine Dion, Wyclef Jean, Sugarland, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Zac Brown, Jennifer Hudson, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus.
Other celebrities include Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Vince Vaughn, Jamie Foxx and Natalie Cole. A total of 100 celebrities took part; none of the original 45 were part of the remake, according to Smokey Robinson.
Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson co-wrote the song, which was recorded in 1985 and went on to earn $30 million for African humanitarian aid.
