In August of 1982 at the time of recording Thriller the biggest selling album of all time, Interview Magazine’s executive editor, Bob Colacello, interviewed Michael Jackson. Midway through their interview, Andy Warhol called from New York.<\/p>\n

Here is just an excerpt from Andy Warhol’s call:<\/p>\n

[Andy Warhol calls from New York.]<\/p>\n

WARHOL: Gosh, this is exciting. You know, every time I use my Walkman I play your cassette on it . . . How have you been?<\/p>\n

JACKSON: I’ve been in the studio a lot, writing lyrics and working on songs and stuff.<\/p>\n

WARHOL: I might go see an English rock group at the Ritz tonight called Duran Duran. Do you know them?<\/p>\n

JACKSON: No.<\/p>\n

WARHOL: I went to see Blondie at the Meadowlands last week.<\/p>\n

JACKSON: How was Blondie?<\/p>\n

WARHOL: She was great. She’s so terrific. Do you know her?<\/p>\n

JACKSON: No, I never met her.<\/p>\n

WARHOL: Well, when you come to New York I’ll introduce her. Going on tour is about the hardest thing to do in the world.<\/p>\n

JACKSON: Tour is something\u2014the pacing. But being onstage is the most magic thing about it . . .<\/p>\n

WARHOL: Did you ever think you\u2019d grow up to be a singer?<\/p>\n

JACKSON: I don\u2019t ever remember not singing, so I never dreamed of singing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
