THE COLLECTION OF TOMPKINS & BUSH: MICHAEL JACKSON WARDROBE
\nWestfield Stratford City announced as exclusive UK only host<\/p>\n
Westfield Stratford City has been named as the exclusive UK only host of \u201cThe Collection of Tompkins and Bush: Michael Jackson Wardrobe\u201d \u2013 a unique collection of personal and concert tour wardrobe worn by the world renowned \u201cKing of Pop\u201d and possessed by Michael Jackson\u2019s long-term costume designers, Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins. The exhibition forms the UK-leg of a worldwide tour and will showcase outfits not seen since they were worn on stage or screen.<\/p>\n
The Bush-Tompkins collection will be located in The Getty Gallery on The Street from Friday 5th October 2012, with the gallery space transformed to give visitors the opportunity to get up close to some of Michael Jackson\u2019s best-known outfits.<\/p>\n
The exhibit will feature dozens of iconic costumes and fashion artefacts. Highlights include the one of the King of Pop\u2019s infamous right-handed crystal covered glove, the complete \u201cScream\u201d video outfit, a suit from the 1987 Smooth Criminal video and the 30th Anniversary of Madison Square Gardens Show\u2019s illuminated helmet sported by Jackson. Die-hard fans will also recognise a host of costumes from outfits worn to various awards ceremonies, music videos and Jackson\u2019s legendary live performances including the BAD, HIStory, and Dangerous tours.<\/p>\n
As the only UK host of the exhibition, Westfield Stratford City joins a list of prestigious venues to have held the collection, including Dublin\u2019s The Museum of Style and Icons and Santiago\u2019s The Museo de la Moda and is the only shopping centre destination in the world to be given the privilege of hosting the internationally acclaimed exhibition.<\/p>\n

\nCostume designers Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush worked closely with Michael Jackson for over 25 years. The collection includes items featured in an illustrated book by Michael Bush entitled \u201cThe King of Style: Dressing Michael Jackson\u201d launching in late October this year. Dennis Tompkins sadly passed away December 2011.<\/p>\n
Running from the 5th of October until the 4th November, visitors can purchase tickets for \u00a310. Located in The Getty Gallery on the Street, the exhibit will be open seven days a week, from 10am \u2013 9pm, Monday to Friday, 9am \u2013 9pm Saturdays and 12pm \u2013 6pm on Sundays. The fashion exhibit will continue touring throughout the remaining part of the year and culminate in an exclusive auction of the costumes and wardrobe at Julien\u2019s Auctions, December 2, 2012. Visit www.juliensauctions.com for further details.<\/p>\n
