The success of the Michael biopic continues to drive huge streaming numbers for Michael Jackson’s music catalogue.
For the third consecutive week, Michael Jackson has broken his own personal streaming record in the United States.
According to Billboard / Luminate, Michael’s solo catalogue earned an incredible 181.6 million official on-demand streams during the May 1-7 tracking week, marking another major increase from the previous week’s 137.6 million streams.
Leading the way once again was Billie Jean, which generated 14.8 million streams during the week. The song has also surged back up the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Other major hits from Thriller also saw massive streaming numbers, including Beat It and Human Nature.
Early figures suggest the momentum is continuing, with Michael’s catalogue already surpassing 86 million streams in just the first few days of the following tracking week.
More than four decades after the release of Thriller, Michael Jackson’s music continues to dominate streaming platforms around the world.
