According to Nikke Finke’s Deadline Hollywood, Sony’s forthcoming Michael Jackson movie, ‘This is it’, could make as much as $250m in its first five days.
And execs with concert promoter, AEG, have claimed that the picture is already $5m in the black after Sony paid $60m for the rights. Randy Phillips, president and CEO of AEG Live, has said of the film, “He was our partner in life and now he’s our partner in death.”
Anticipation is obviously very high for the movie, which features the concert rehearsal footage Michael Jackson made before his untimely death earlier this year.
