Michael Lewis seemed to have confused The X Factor with Stars In Their Eyes when he auditioned for Simon Cowell and co.
The 26-year-old’s attempt to imitate the voice, moves and dress sense of Michael Jackson was one of the highlights of a typically mixed early-season episode of the ITV1 talent show.
He showed he definitely wasn’t the King of Pop with a rendition of Rock With You, prompting Simon to say: “That was hideous, there was nothing authentic, it was just awful.”
Louis Walsh agreed and suggested he sounded more like La Toya than Michael, but agreed to give the hopeful another chance.
His unaccompanied version of Human Nature was greeted with booing and chants of “off, off, off” from the audience, prompting Michael to have a strop and accuse the crowd of “negativity”.
